Bhumyamalaki-48 capsules or tablets
acts to cleanse, detoxify and strengthen the liver. It also supports proper function of the gall bladder and promotes healthy skin.
The aboriginal people of the Amazon used Chanca Piedra (bhumyamalaki), to treat kidney and gall stones so it is called "stonebreaker". It has many soothing properties, particularly for the digestive system, and it is recommended to take on a full stomach. It is also used as a remedy for vaginitis caused by candida albicans in many parts of the world.
"A clinical study with Bhumyamalaki indicated that it may reduce the levels of urinary calcium. A subsequent study of 150 patients over a 6 month period indicated that an extract of this herb reduces the incidence of stone formation... A more recent rat study found that Bhumyamalaki has been shown to interfere with many stages of stone formation, reducing crystals aggregation, modifying their structure and composition as well as altering the interaction of the crystals with tubular cells leading to reduced subsequent endocytosis". In the past few years, Bhumyamalaki has gained the attention of researchers from all around the world due to its hepatprotective activity. The clinical research has shown the efficacy of the herb Bhumyamalaki for treating viral Hepatitis B.
In the year 1990, Sao Paulo’s, ‘Paulista School of Medicine’ carried out studies on rats and humans with kidney stones. A decoction of the herb was given for 1 to 3 months and it was established that the herbal tea promoted the removal of kidney stones. There was also an increase in the creatine and sodium excretion and urine output. In the same year, Nicole Maxwell reported that Germany’s Dr. Wolfram Wiemann treated about 100 patients suffering from kidney stones with Bhumyamalaki obtained from Peru. It was found that the treatment was 94% successful in expelling the kidney stones in a short duration of one or two weeks.
In an in-vitro clinical study conducted in the year 1999, the extract of bhumyamalaki exhibited its ability to obstruct the creation of calcium-oxalate crystals, which are the building-blocks of kidney stones. This shows that the herb can be an effective preventative aid for those, who have a history of the ailment.

Translated as "three fruits", it is composed of the dried fruits of amalaki, bibhitaki and haritaki.
